Finding the right firearms instructor is important. As every person is different. Each will have his or her own needs and goals when it comes to training. It is wise to find an instructor that can meet those needs and help one to attain their goals. When choosing the instructor that is right for you, do your research and shop around.

Maryland Handgun Qualifying License (HQL)
Handgun Qualification License training is a four-hour block of instruction which includes classroom instruction on state firearm law, home firearm safety, handgun mechanisms and operation, and a component that requires the applicant demonstrate the ability to safely fire a handgun.
Training is valid for 3 years and must be completed prior to submitting an application for a Handgun Qualification License.

Maryland Wear & Carry 16-Hour Permit
(Conceal and Open Carry Permit)
Wear and Carry Permit training is 16 hours of instruction for an original application and 8 hours of instruction for a renewal application. The approved training is offered by a Qualified Handgun Instructor and will include instruction on state firearm law, home firearm safety, handgun mechanisms and operation, and a component that requires the applicant to demonstrate gun safety and proficiency with a minimum score of 70% accuracy.
Designated security personnel (security guards, private detectives, special police, and armored car drivers/guards) must shoot a practical police course of at least 50 rounds, from no further than 25 yards and score at least 70% accuracy.
All other applicants must shoot a course of at least 25 rounds, from no further than 15 yards and score at least 70% accuracy.

Holster Draw- Course 1

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course introduces the shooter to the correct procedures required to effectively and safely draw and re-holster a handgun. Holster types (retention levels, advantages, and disadvantages will also be discussed). This is a strong side draw only course.
